    Tarot Numerology

Every card in the Tarot deck is associated with a number except for the court cards. These numbers are based on the principles of numerology and represent a material and spiritual evolutionary process that begins with the number 1 and ends with the number 9.

The Major Arcana numbers 1 to 22 follow the same numerological  cycle as the numbers 1 through 9 in the numerology, but continue in the Wheel of Fortune(#10) on a higher turn of the spiral  as a compound number ( 1+0=1).

In the Minor Arcana, the Aces are read as a number 1 because they indicate a fresh start or new beginning. There are no 10s in numerology except as a compound number. The number 10 in the Tarot is read as a number 1 (1+0=1) and represents that a cycle is rebeginning that signals a major change from one thing or place to another . The number 10 also points to a time when one must come to terms with something that may have been avoided in the past.

I have divided each number into three sections to provide insight into their meanings. The first is the hidden and underlying message, the second is both the positive and negative, the third is what it means if there are multiples.

    Number 1
Message: Inspiration and aspiration. It deals with that which is about to take form, take shape, or manifest.
Positive & Negative: Creation, ideas, beginnings, will, invention, originality, drive, incentive, determination, independence.   Willfullness, selfishness, undue force.
Multiples: Many 1s indicate that a situation is about to begin, or is in the beginning stages, and some or all of the positive or negative elements mentioned above will be involved.

    Number 2
Message: Assimilate and envision. It is the intellet directed, and its function is to imagine. It is the cooperator whose success is not gained by force, but by patience.
Positive & Negative: Waiting, sharing, balance, receptivity, diplomacy, gentle persuasion, application, agreement, insight.  Intolerance, Impatience, imbalance.
Multiples:  Many 2s indicate a waiting period where there will be partial success but more to be revealed later. They can also indicate a reconciliation, a reunion, and/or an element of surprise.

    Number 3
Message: Expression. It is the cementing factor of the numbers 1 and 2, and its power is through its word, which goes forth in order to bring into being that which is desired and envisioned.
Positive & Negative:  Communicating, feeling, enjoying, sharing, self expressing, love. friendship, popularity.  Withholding communication, scattered energy, overreacting, overindulging, criticism.
Multiples: Many 3s indicate group activities or situations involving more than one person. They can delay, but with the promise of future success.

    Number 4
Mesage: Manifestation. It is the result of a well built foundation and proper application. It is that which comes forth as a result of desire, imagination, and emoting.
Positive & Negative: Practical application, formation, foundation, concentration, organization, working, building, planning.  Plodding, exacting or dull work, too much attention on the material, limitation, blocks, and opposition.
Multiples: Fruitation or manifestation of an idea, along with the foundation or space where things can grow.

    Number 5
Message: Change, expansion, and re-creation. It also represents the desire to know, which demands that one must look to both the material and the spiritual realm in order to extract the truth.
Positive & Negative: Curiosity, spirituality, new thinking, new opportunities, magnetism, attraction, good fortune, travel and adventure.  Defeatism, dogmatism, fear of change, misfortune, failure.
Multiples:  Many 5s indicate change, challenge, and fluctuations (lucky and unlucky). They also indicate material prosperity but spiritual poverty, if not properly balanced or understood.

    Number 6
Message: Adjustment. It is the balancing factor that unlocks the mystery of the number 5, as it provides the ability to discern both the higher and the lower, andbring the into harmony.
Positive & Negative: Harmony, service, balance, compassion, responsibility, social conscious, domesticity, love, care comfort, concern.  Disharmony, discord, lack of concern or responsibility towards others, too fixed in opinons or beliefs, anxiety, interference.
Multiples:  Many 6s indicate adjustments in thoughts, attitudes, or conditions. They also represent the ability to transcend difficulties.

    Number 7
Message: Faith. Faith in the things that can't be seen, but nevertheless exist. The number 7s must know the ultimate truths, and it is only through experience that its intellectual and spiritual understanding develops, and faith in the unseen is attained.
Positive & Negative: Faith, obsevation, investagation, discrimination, medication, discovery, knowledge, wisdom, perfection.   Fear, faithlessness, skepticism, pessimism, doubt, ignorance, escapism.
Multiples: Many 7s indicate a period of introspection or solitude. They also indicate unlooked for advantages or gains through things that come unexpectedly.

    Number 8
Message:    Power. Power that springs from within and enables one to accomplish that which one sets out to do.
Positive & Negative:  Capabilities, (spiritual) fortitude, success, recognition, accomplishment, attainment, enlargement.   Abuse of power, overemotionalism, strain, oppression, and lack.
Multiples:  Many 8s indicate a positive change of mind or status because the beneficial qualities of the number 8 are rarely diluted, even when some or all of the negative aspects mentioned above are involved.

    Number 9
Message:  Completion. It must complete whatever it has begun because it is the final stage or culmination of all of the preceding cycles and numbers. But contained within its depth also lie the seeds of a new beginning about to take root.
Positive & Negative:  Fulfillment, selflessness, impersonal love, magnetism, idealism( in its highest form), giver of wisdom or inspiration.  Personal loss, emotional extremes, having to let go of something cherished.
Multiples:  Many 9s in a reading mean that situations or events are nearing completion, or have just been completed, and another plateau awaits.

    Start A Tarot Journal

Keeping track of your Tarot Card spreads are important. Writing them down means you won't lose any insightful information from prior spreads. When you return to look at your spreads 3 or 6 months later you realize that the cards say much more than you noticedWriting down your readings provide a visual record and assists your memory. With your  arot Journal  in front of you, you can pull the cards out again to see what they have to say to you now. When you record every spread you do in some form, you're sure to learn a great deal when you look back, and you'll be recording your own history in the process.  When you look back at your readings you did over a period of time, you'll begin to notice that certain cards seem to recur much more than others. If a Major Arcana card recurs frequently whether up right or reverse, remember that the card represents a lesson you need to learn. If the card is upright you are fine, but if it is reversed, it could be that  you are resisting the message or messager.

    Major Arcana ( Reversed )

The Major Arcana  is at the heart of the Tarot. A whole range of human life and experience is represented by the Major Arcana. It is symbolic of physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual aspects of humankind. The cards are thought to illustrate the strengths, hopes and fears, weaknesses, the most godly and darkest parts of an individual. In Tarot readings, these meanings can change significantly depending on whether or not the card appears in its upright or reversed position. Other factors that can determine a card’s meaning can include where the card appears in a Tarot spread.

    0 The Fool
It is one of those times when prudence is needed but you still may be tempted to throw caution to the wind. You still have plenty of enthusiasm but luck has momentarily left you. In love, the person who has your heart may turn out to be selfish and unable to commit. Like with financial risks, take time before investing. You may realize that you are more conventional than you thought. Other people's eccentricities that you may have found charming now just rub you the wrong way.

    1 The Magician
When the Magician is reversed, you may find yourself unable to make a choice. You've spent time considering the possibilities but you're stuck in your thoughts. Plans or opportunities that seemed like sure things haven't panned out - is the problem lack of commitment or lack of resources? You still have choices to make, especially about priorities. You are the only person who can bring your dreams to life.

    2 The High Priestess
In the times when the High Priestess is reversed, it is the time for observation not action. Your
problems are deeper than you thought. You need time to understand what is really going on before committing to a course of action. Sometimes, the High Priestess reversed can indicate that you are hiding your intuitive feelings or trying to hide from another secret part of yourself. You may be surrounding yourself with empty chatter and shallow friends as a distraction. In some cases, this card can refer to hidden destructive forces around you. This is a time to understand the situation rather than attempting to change it.

    3 The Empress
When the Empress is reversed, the energy that is normally so abundant has been stalled or blocked. You may be experiencing financial or creative losses, disappointments in relationships and general discomforts. Your home seems less comfortable somehow and your pleasures are diminished. When times are hard, it is even more difficult when there is no end in sight. The Empress reminds us that there is a time and a season for everything and no matter the challenges, this too will pass. You may need to give yourself a little nudge though.

    4 The Emperor
When the Emperor is reversed, it may seem like nothing you do can affect change in your life. While this may be a time where authority figures feel particularly constraining, learning to work with rules and regulations now may be the key to future successes. If you are used to having power, you may find that your are forced to work with others; your perspective could see this as a loss of authority. This could also be a time where you have to work through a relationship with a dominant partner or parent.

    5 The Hierophant
As the Hierophant becomes reversed, you may feel as if a revolution has begun deep inside yourself. You will march to the beat of your own drum and want to thoroughly cast away all the rules and structure that has been drilled into you. This may be a time where you discover that the religion you were born with no longer resonates with you and you are searching for new answers. It is a time where you need to be cautious in the advice you receive and realize that anything you commit to now will disappoint you later.

    6 The Lovers
When the Lovers is reversed, there seems to be something missing in your relationships. Control becomes an issue and dysfunction and miscommunication are the norm. Some difficulties may stem from jealousy or insecurity but really other issues are below the surface. If you are offered the chance to take part in an affair, think carefully. While it may satisfy your physical desires, emotionally you may end up losing out. Another possibility is that your partner may not be completely honest with you at this time. Delay any decision until you can see the entire situation clearly.

    7 The Chariot
When the Chariot is reversed, you have become your own worst enemy. When you view other people's successes, you are jealous and dismiss the hard work. Addiction can cloud your ambition and you are convinced that the world owes you something. While you have talents, you never use them to your fullest advantage. A lack of self-belief may be holding you back but really you just have to commit to action. A plan is needed now, to best use your abilities and keep you focused.

    8 Strength
The faith and love that made you believe anything was possible has vanished - you are left with fear and doubts. Without rediscovering your courage, you have a hard time moving forward and reaching for success. In some cases, the meaning of this Tarot card can refer to someone who has given up, on themselves and life's opportunities. It is important to realize that the only thing standing in the way of change and transformation is fear and the doubt it creates.

    9 The Hermit
Some people need to be surrounded by friends or family at all times - they fear loneliness. When the Hermit is reversed, the meaning of this card can be interpreted as solitary confinement. You want and need people around you but are still very much alone. Often, this need for company is to distract from internal issues. Part of having growth and maturity is the ability to see and accept yourself as you are now. If you receive some advice at this time, it will be foolish to ignore it. Examine your objections. It could be that your desire to ignore this suggestion comes more from stubbornness than anything else. The Hermit reversed calls your attentions to distractions of every kind. There is nothing wrong with relaxing as long as your obligations are also being met.

    10 The Wheel of Fortune
When the Wheel of Fortune is reversed, this Tarot card seems to bring bad luck that you can't quite shake...yet. Don't fear that this phase will last forever. Just like in every other area of life, there is a time and a season for everything. Now is not the time to forge ahead with new plans but to bide your time. Like the Chariot taught us, we can accomplish more by
working with the energies of the universe than to work against them. This is a time of unexpected problems, delays, and issues galore.

    11 Justice
Any legalities or disputes will take longer to be resolved. Delays, injustice and a general imbalance come to light when this card is reversed. Court dates will get moved, legal fees will climb and it seems like nothing in life is fair. Divorce and other settlements will not favour you and anything that involves a contract or paperwork will get complicated and confused. Other times when Justice is reversed, this Tarot card can indicate that a marriage may be dissolved. If this is the case, it could be a very amicable split. There are no hard feelings or troubles arriving at terms - it is just a case that both parties realize that they have grown apart.

    12 The Hangedman
When the Hanged Man Tarot card is reversed, it can indicate that you are caught up in material issues and can be too self-absorbed. It is always important to take care of yourself but you need to also see the world around you. Bad investments and financial losses can also affect you now. You are being reminded to remember that you need to be conscious of your actions and the price that results from them.

    13 Death
When the Death card is reversed, it reveals that this is a time when you are resisting change. Your stubbornness is creating a stale environment around you, which drains your energy and slows you down. Life feels like it has lost its sparkle; you feel like you're living in perpetual deja vu. Variety is the spice of life; trying to prevent it is just establishing a boring status quo. If there are other positive, energetic cards around it, Death reversed can mean that it is time to wait and see. Watch what's going on and bide your time. Once you allow yourself to acknowledge that you are ready to move on, a new cycle will begin.

    14 Temperance
Arguments and misunderstandings abound when Temperance is reversed. It doesn't seem to matter what you try, life is out of balance and harmony is absent. It may seem like there is not enough time to get things done. Sometimes it can show you that spreading yourself too thin is dividing your energy and stopping you from accomplishing things. Emotions run high and at work or home, you feel unnecessary competition spurring you on.

    15 The Devil
When the Devil is reversed, this Tarot card is telling you that your attitudes towards money, power or sex are likely unbalanced. You are absolutely absorbed by the material world and may be stuck in a greedy and self-absorbed mindset. At the same, it is hard for you to let go of this need for more and you may feel trapped and depressed. Relationships at this time can be equally unbalanced, usually with one partner calling all the shots. In spite of issues, there may be an element of bondage in this relationship that makes it hard to leave. It might be illogical to everyone around you but many people do stupid things in the name of love.

    16 The Tower
When the meaning for this Tarot card is reversed, the effects become even more revolutionary and chaotic. While the Tower often seems like a punishment, when it is reversed, it seems less fair. The company you work for could go out of business without warning with all employees laid off; this may lead to the time you need to discover a much-loved second career. When you are in the midst of experiencing these changes, you may feel like you need to know why. Sometimes indicate prison or being stuck in a situation. While you might not be able to free yourself right now, the freedom you seek will come but it has a price.

    17 The Star
When this Tarot card is reversed, its meaning connects to the dark moments of the heart when it feels like nothing will ever work. At this low point, you may doubt your abilities and what you can achieve. While this is connected to recent events you perceive as failures, you're also worn down and need a break. In spite of your exhaustion, you refuse to relax and let go. The Star still offers the chance of success. It is a time where you would benefit from removing yourself from this situation and taking a change to reassess before continuing. In terms of relationships, this card can refer to a period where emotions are detached and there is a lack of sharing in a relationship; tension and pessimism may play a role in this.

    18 The Moon
When the Moon is reversed, you are entering a period where the line between dreams and reality has become blurred. You may have false people around you or find it hard to be honest with yourself. In the resulting chaos, nothing is concrete and everything is more than a little confusing. It's not the time to bet on anything. Job offers will evaporate, potential homes will be bad investments: nothing is what it seems. Keep your ideas to yourself and be wary of any advice you receive. Depression, alcoholism, drug abuse, and illness can all appear when the Moon is reversed.

    19 The Sun
While the Sun's warmth is crucial for growth and development, the Sun reversed can indicate too much of a good thing. You haven't backed up your hopes with solid action. Success starts from an idea but takes a lot of hard work to become a reality. In terms of relationships, you might be travelling down some rocky roads. It may feel like you aren't respected or ignored but there is a lot of history in this relationship. The same sort of troubles can also influence business relationships. Behind the quarrels, there is a feeling of imbalance that affects everything. Children can be a concern, especially in terms of illness. In many cases, this may be fear more than reality. If there are other positive cards around, success will arrive but take a little longer.

    20 Judgement
When Judgement is reversed, you may be wishy-washy about making a much-needed decision. This inability to commit to a decision is creating a boring void in your life. Now is the time to make up your mind and move ahead. If you don't decide, a decision will be made for you. Often Judgement relates to a fear of change. You might be someone who is dependent on routine and avoids decisions whenever possible. Emotionally, Judgement can indicate a painful loss that you haven't yet recovered from. You may be parted from your lover or have to spend time away from your family due to work.

    21 The World
Success is so close that you can taste it but is still elusively out of reach. On occasion, the opposite can be true - you've reached that pinnacle but want to resist moving forward. Enjoy your successes but you will reach a point where you do have to move again. You can't stop the passage of time. Relationships influenced by the World may be over but unresolved. Lingering like a bad odor, you'll need to revisit the past before you can move forward and let things go. A previous bad ending may be making you reluctant to love again - with The World, you can be assured that a positive relationship is waiting for you if you are open to it. When related to work, The World reversed can suggest a feeling of panic or lack of planning. You don't feel ready for whatever lies ahead and completion is being delayed. The World is a powerful and positive card regardless of its position and it brings wonderful change at its own pace. Let go and enjoy the ride.

    Minor Arcana ( Reversed )

                                                              Wands

Ace:    At this time, the urge to change and develop is present but circumstances are delaying progress. In creative and intuitive matters, blocks and delays lead to impatience. Sexual and emotion relationships can also be subject to misunderstandings and dysfunction.

Two:   Partnerships filled with friction and misunderstands can occur when the Two of Wands is reversed. Delays and miscommunication in legal matters are par for the course. Sometimes it is because partners are seeking difference outcomes from their venture; one may want money while the other is searching for creative freedom. Being inflexible can lead to further misunderstandings.

Three:  Dreams are the starting point for any new venture. In order to become a reality, they need a combination of hard work and practical planning. When success fails at this point, it's usually because of unrealistic expectations and a lack of focused hard work. You may have another chance to live this dream later but next time be better prepared with the resources you currently have.

Four:   Your dreams, especially in terms of having a home, may but put aside for a little while. It doesn't mean that this dream must be abandoned but rather that there is still some more work for this to be achieved. When this card appears reversed, you may be in such a hurry to wrap things up, you don't realize how many loose ends you're leaving. The Four of Wands reversed is offering you a brief rest, time to collect yourself before you move forward. While the impatient part of you is annoyed by this, enjoy it while it lasts.

Five:   When the Five of Wands is reversed, legal issues or disputes are likely looming on the horizon. Any resolution to the legal problems will be the result of a lot of negotiation and understanding. Internal conflicts will frustrate and it seems there is no easy solution to these problems. While these trials can seem insurmountable, conclusion may be close at hand.

Six:   When the Six of Wands is reversed, don't expect to forge ahead in office affairs. From trouble to working with others, miscommunication in group projects, and small failures will cause tension for you at work. Whether with co-workers or managers, tempers will flare. The best you can hope for is to keep on until the energies change in your favor.

Seven:   Courage has fled and fear controls you when the Seven of Wands is reversed. You have tremendous talents and abilities but aren't using them - you're afraid to let yourself shine. There may not have been a lot of encouragement to take risks but this is the time for you to support yourself. If you reach and strive now, there is no limit to what you can  achieve.

Eight:   Delays, miscommunication and abandoning the need for speed are all part of the Eight of Wands reversed. It doesn't seem no matter now how well things have been planned, they can and will go awry. Now is the time to reassess your choices and think twice before committing to anything. The delays are beyond your control so remember to stay calm or reschedule to avoid headaches.

Nine:   Stress and the need to repair are part of the the Nine of Wands reversed. This card will appear during times of overwork, when you are feeling like you can't continue. Constant stress has burdened your body and mind and you need to take a break. You might feel driven right now to finish what you started but if you press on, your health will suffer.

Ten:   The responsibilities you shoulder right now with the Ten of Wands reversed are just right. Instead of feeling burdened, these are welcome responsibilities that reinforce your worth and create strong feelings of drive. In an environment of strong workers, you are nurtured and working at your best. External forces support you and you feel like you are in sync with your job. Promotions or raises are a likely result of all your hard work.

Page:   When the Page of Wands is reversed, it can be that learning disabilities are stopping the surge of creative ideas from coming through. It could be that over-activity is hindering their ability to learn; so much energy making it impossible to focus or stay sitting. Other recognized disabilities can also interfere. It is important to resolve these difficulties before frustration outweighs the love of learning.

Knight:   The Knight of Wands can come into your life almost like a con-man. He is fast talking and always looking to get what he wants without a thought to anyone else. Even when you know this is his character, his charming words and easy smile make him hard to resist. Don't give him anything you value, whether a possession or your heart.

Queen:   Naturally giving, the Queen of Wands can be guilty of making promises she doesn't keep. She means well but her flightiness over time will make some friends not take her seriously. The same loyalty that makes her a wonderful friend is also present in her less loving moods. She can hold jealousy and anger long after the original offense has been committed. Sometimes, the Queen of Wands reversed can stand for a slightly unstable person who wants only to create conflict. She loves to stir up trouble where ever she is. Keep her at a distance or her drama will absorb you.

King:   When the King of Wands is reversed, his fiery nature is self-centred and impatient. Still a master of the boardroom, he is driven by greed that is not controlled by ethics; he will step on anyone to get to the top. Personally, his broad interests and lust for life make him a fun and fascinating partner. Only for the short time. His desire to please himself and love of freedom mean that a long-term arrangement isn't in the cards.

                                   CUPS

Ace:   When the Ace of Cups is reversed, it represents a time of emotional drain and chaos. It may refer to one-sided or exhausting relationships that demand more emotional effort than they return. Creative ideas and artistic projects seem to have dried up and a general feeling of being uninspired is present. Emotional demands seem constant, leaving you feeling empty and needing to withdraw.

Two:   Emotional hardships and imbalance are suggested with the Two of Cups reversed. It is a time when it seems hard, if not impossible, to understand where others are coming from. Arguments go around in circles and it may feel like the current situation will never get resolved. Often, the best thing you can do is to just take a break; give yourself and others time to calm down and then reassess the situation. It's important to take things slowly and not do anything too rash. While it may seem hopeless, all is not lost. There is no need to think of abandoning a relationship completely. All you need is a little time and understanding.

Three:   Over-the-top indulgence is the key phrase for the Three of Cups. It's one thing to enjoy yourself, but you're having a hard time doing anything else. This can also speak of financial over-spending, allowing your joy to blind you to the balance in your bank account. Take a break from the social scene to regroup and get some much needed sleep.

Four:   The Four of Cups reversed often represents someone who cannot be alone. Needing the reassurance of people around them, they create a frantic social schedule that allows no time for pleasure, only distraction. Sometimes this card appears when you are needing change at this point in your career. It could be that a project that once gave you much pride and pleasure leaves you feeling empty.

Five:   The Five of Cups reversed often signals that an emotional reunion is on the horizon. A friend or lover may suddenly reappear, giving you the chance to possibly rebuilt your relationship. With the new knowledge and experiences you have, it could become even stronger the second time. The emotional hurt experienced leaves you cautious and better able to decide whether a second chance is worth the risk.

Six:   Living in the past is no way to enjoy the present or embrace the future. When the Six of Cups is reversed, you hold your past up to block your future. Remember that our memories of what happened are selective. Usually only the prettiest thoughts of the past remain. We can also use our past to prove our lack of worth. Perhaps our family or lover was non supportive - in this case, these memories and the doubts they create belong firmly behind us. A fresh start begins with realizing who we currently are, and not buying into what people think we should be.

Seven:   A dreamy and hazy fantasy world exists within the Seven of Cups reversed. Reality is something you don't want to connect with - living in your dreams or clouding your thoughts with drugs or alcohol is much nicer. You may be deceiving yourself with your relationships and need to search for reality rather than deluding yourself. Sometimes what is real is not as pleasant as your fantasies, but reality is what grounds you.

Eight:   When the Eight of Cups is reversed, you have entered a depressing period of emotional confusion where fantasy and reality have blurred. Desperate from emotional wounds, you have shut yourself off from the people around you and are suffering from emotional exhaustion. At the core of this is your need for perfection, in yourself and in others. Reach out for help to move beyond this point.

Nine:   When the Nine of Cups is reversed, you are in danger of forgetting where you came from and taking your current happiness for granted. With established relationships, there is always work that needs to take place to make sure both parties are feeling happy and respected. With all matters, if you ignore the behind-the-scenes maintenance, you are at risk of losing everything that you've worked so hard to create.

Ten:   When the Ten of Cups is reversed, you may feel that you are on the brink of losing what is most important to you. Homes might be sold, children and friends move away, lovers become distant. These emotional disruptions affect you even more right now because they seem enough to break your heart. All the more important to speak from your soul and express the deep feelings you may have been hiding. Leave petty quarrels and misunderstandings behind you and try to find common ground. True love knows no distance.

Page:   The Page of Cups can refer to someone drowning in fantasy. Dreams and  nightmares can cloud even the day and intuitive impulses seem fearful and strange.

Knight:   The promise and artistic vision is clouded by emotional issues as well as a lack of motivation. He likes to receive advice - it makes him feel like he is doing something - but rarely will follow through it. He may be lost in his head, finding that his fantasies are better than reality.

Queen:   When the Queen of Cups is reversed, her moods become quick changing and her personality is overwhelmed by her emotions. The intensity of her mood affect everyone around her and she sometimes uses them to manipulate others. A woman who has long lasting emotional wounds, the pain affecting other aspects of her life. When someone is trapped in this part of the Queen of Cups, her talents are rarely used. She is aware of them but lacks the esteem and hope to use them.

King:   The King of Cups is transformed into someone who can't or won't deal with reality; drugs, alcohol and fantasies are used to forget. Unable to fully express his feelings, he may go through life convinced that no-one can really understand or accept him. While the King of Cups reversed can indicate a man who is unfaithful in love, he generally will also be someone who can't decide which partner he wants to be with. Emotionally deep, there is the possibility that love will drown all parties.

                                               SWORDS

Ace:   Imbalanced and troubled, when the Ace of Swords is reversed, changes can seem too sudden, delayed and not to your benefit. It speaks of a time where it is difficult to find agreement and others or yourself may seem argumentative even quarrelsome.

Two:  Think twice or even three or four times when the Two of Swords is reversed. Your advisers, intuition and knowledge are clouded and you are not in the best position to make any final decisions. Any changes will occur slowly. Honestly, right now that's for the best. There is an air of deceit the surrounds you and it will be hard find agreements that work to your advantage. While you'll feel like being impulsive to move things forward, you'll regret anything you agree to now.

Three:   Emotional stress and anxiety go hand in hand with the Three of Sword is reversed. Relationships are confusing, communication breaks down and it seems that there is only a great deal of emotional pain left to experience. When this card appears, the relationship has usually ended and healing has begun, even if it seems like the wounds are still raw. Every ending brings a new beginning.

Four:   When the need for rest is ignored, you arrived at the reversed position. This is the time when illness or anxiety will result in health issues needing a long period for healing. There is no longer the option to choose when to rest - the choice has been made for you. Rather than worry about how this will affect you, accept that it is necessary and let your body, mind and spirit heal. Four of Swords reversed can also refer to a time of social isolation where old friends have lost contact; however this is not permanent and new friends will arrive soon.

Five:   When the Five of Swords is reversed, it is time to cut your losses. Sometimes, wanting to prove we were in the right becomes more important than being right. At this point, you have already lost this fight, no matter what else you say or do. Jealousy, pride and self-righteousness may be keeping you in battle but it is time to accept defeat and walk away. Accept what has happened, learn from it and start anew.

Six:   The Six of Swords reversed can sometimes feel like the eye in the center of the hurricane. All around, chaos and struggle loom on the horizon but only your grit and determination will see you through. Tenacity and the willingness to go on are required when this card is present. The only solutions available are temporary; now is the time to catch your breath rather than solve these issues.

Seven:   The Seven of Swords in a reversed position can indicate that an apology is soon to come your way. Something that was taken from you will be returned. You may experience some criticism, but it will be constructive. Be open to suggestions and advice. You will be acknowledged for your hard work. If you wish to succeed, you must be able to manage your emotions and thoughts. Do not lose sight of your goals. Seven of Swords warns against laziness and indecision. Keep a steady level of awareness as you could miss some new opportunities.

Eight:   A new state of mind brimming with movement comes with the Eight of Swords reversed. You've realized that the first step in changing your life starts with changing your thoughts. You've gained confidence and strength from the problems you solved. Be wary of people around you being thoughtless - stand up for yourself and make sure you receive the respect you're due.

Nine:   Brightness appears on the horizon when the Nine of Swords is reversed. Dawn is starting to break and the worst is over. You have seen your problems head on, faced your fears and are ready to make way for new things. Worry and stress will take time to fade and you'll still need to be gentle with yourself. When you allow your remaining fears and doubts to fade, harmony will slowly start to reappear.

Ten:   With the Ten of Swords reversed, it is time to address how your own negative thinking and deeply held beliefs are affecting your life. You may not realize how pessimistic you've become but there is an element to self-fulfilling prophecy in your life. Start to explore how you can slowly change your mindset and embrace positive thought patterns. Stay open to improvements and they will start to enter your life.

Page:   When the Page of Swords is reversed, the perceptive nature can become petty and spiteful. Ideas are more important than feelings and anything that challenges their logic will be ignored. Emotionally, there can be a great deal of hidden anxiety. Ideas are easy to control and create - people don't respond in the same way. The Page reversed may be very sensitive, a result from critical family or friends. In spite of the criticism, this might be the most comfortable place for the Page reversed.

Knight:   Still bright and competitive, the Knight of Swords reversed is even more destructive. Rarely feeling remorse, he moves from challenge to challenge, taking whatever is needed for his own ends. Any good ethics have disappeared and his motivation is self-oriented. To manage himself, he can sometimes resort to abuse of drugs or alcohol; moderation of any kind can be a real challenge. Still moving against the status quo, the Knight reversed drifts through life, always looking for the next opportunity.

Queen:   The Queen reversed can get caught up in her thoughts to much and forget her heart completely. Acting only from logic, she becomes cold and distant. She can also be cruel when she feels provoked and spares no mercy in her verbal attacks. Reversed, the Queen abandons any pretense of politeness and tells you exactly what she thinks.   Her stubbornness will continue at disadvantage to herself and everyone around her. Critical beyond sense or reason, she is displeased by everything around her and will stand in judgment.

King:   When the King of Swords is reversed, his charm has evaporated and the only thing that seems to be left is his biting tongue. Unfair attacks seem to arise from nothing. He is critical of everyone and everything. Like a lightning storm, these flashes of his intense mood can devastate. Unfortunately, it also affects every aspect of his life. Professionally, he manages to isolate himself from co-workers and supervisors. For all his enterprise, very little can be accomplished as he alienates people. Still ambitious, ruthlessness achieves what his free-speech can't. Reversed, the King is arrogant and cold with others, even those he cares about.

                                  PENTACLES

Ace:   When reversed, the Ace of Pentacles can suggest troubles or issues with money. Sometimes, these are emotion problems related to greed or hoarding; it relates to a general belief in scarcity no matter the circumstances. It can also indicate that a new source of income can provide you with more money but not necessarily happiness.

Two:   If the Two of Pentacles is reversed, everything seems out of balance. Money seems to go out faster than it comes in and trying to sort out looming debts can seem impossible. At first, it is easy to blame your fluctuating moods on your job and money chaos. Really though, it is important to realize that the common denominator is you. Once you stop acting aimless, everything else will gain direction and purpose.

Three:   The Three of Pentacles in a reversed position often speaks of delays in success; the cause is usually yourself. Either fear of failure or unwillingness to commit to the path of learning are the usual culprits. It's necessary to remember why and if gaining these skills are important to you and to realize that most good things require discipline and hard work.

Four:   When the Four of Pentales is reversed, your mind is consumed by thoughts of money. Whether financially worried, strapped for cash, or guilty of hoarding, greed or being miserly, you can't think beyond cash. It may be that your are the responsible one in your household and while others are spending up a storm, you are the one worrying about the bills. Never allow financial trappings to trap you.

Five:   Challenging situations are also present when the Five of Pentacles is reversed but in this case, you realize that only hard work and plenty of it will change your life. As soon as you start this process, other forms of help appear - maybe in the form of a grant or gift. While you won't forget the troubles you experienced, you realized that they have helped you become a stronger person.

Six:   Financial settlements and loss often occur when the Six of Pentacles is reversed. As a caution to take care, remember to treat your money with respect and use it wisely. A fool and his money are soon parted. If a settlement is indicated, it is usually a final division of money or property, like from a will or divorce.

Seven:   Mental and physical exhaustion is indicated when the Seven of Pentacles is reversed. Again, you've been working hard for little reward but in this case, there is no joy and you can't continue. This is a time to take a break and reassess the situation. You'll find that your attitude will change soon and you'll be able to move in a different, more productive direction soon. Right now, you're just exhausted.

Eight:   Hard work without pleasure comes when the Eight of Pentacles is reversed. You may have outgrown your job or feel limited at work. There seems to be nothing new to learn and no where to grow. Try to reconnect to your real talents and consider starting your own business or exploring another line of work. Staying where you are is cheating no-one but yourself.

Nine:   Money seems to be scarce when the Nine of Pentacles is reversed. It is time to examine the lifestyle you've been acustomed to and be prepared to cut things back on luxuries. Unexpected expenses drain your resources and you may have made bad or risky investments that are coming back to haunt you now.

Ten:   When the Ten of Pentacles is reversed, the family that is so important to you can seem like a burden rather than a blessing. Perhaps you support relatives or are seeking support that isn't forthcoming. It may be that your family is vocal about how they think you should improve your life. Money matters are especially complicated and there are unexpected drains on your resources. Just when you thought you were getting ahead, that extra money seems to vanish.

Page:   When the Page of Pentacles is reversed, it can refer to a child that is very shy and has difficulty in interacting with others. This introverted behavior can also show itself as moodiness or being unable to express their feelings.

Knight:   When the Knight of Pentacles falls in a reversed position, there seem to be all sorts of little financial and career issues. It can also refer to the toll poverty takes personally, often diminishing self-confidence along with a bank account.

Queen:   When the Queen of Pentacles is reversed, her practicality has the better of her and every area of her life is ruled by material possessions. Her insecurities have led her to become selfish and hard. She may spend freely upon herself with little concern for others around her. She may even stay in a poor relationship for money. In business, she is often overly-ambitious; her upward climb is motivated solely by money and future gains. She only has people around her that are useful, and a solid bank-balance is more valuable than a friend would be. Ambition drives her to success but personally, she is alone.

King:   The King of Pentacles is usually a boring stick-in-the-mud when reversed. His stubbornness makes him a bully who won't consider anything he isn't familiar with. Tight with money, his behavior could be seen as simply cheap. His conservatism limits his business opportunities - unwilling to take any risks, big or small, good opportunities pass him by.
